The Barcelona Institute of Economics has published the latest edition of its IEB Report, entitled ‘The long-awaited reform of the regional funding system’, dedicated to analysing the future regional funding model which, following a three-year delay, has become a matter of some urgency for Spain’s central government.

 The IEB hosted the last editions of the ‘Workshop on Political Economy & Fiscal Federalism’ and of the ‘Workshop on Economics of Taxation’. 42 PhD students and researchers attended to the first workshop, that counted with the participation of the keynotes Massimo Morelli (Bocconi University) and Ernesto Dal Bo (University of Carlifornia-Berkeley)

Investment in prevention of pollution, a favorable regulatory framework and public subsidies are some of the main factors that stimulate business investment in environmental R & D. This is one of the main conclusions of the paper ‘What are the determinants of investment in environmental R & D?’, Published by the researchers of the IEB María Teresa Costa-Campi, José García-Quevedo and the professor of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Esther Martínez-Ros, and that is the topic of the last issue of the IEB INFO.

The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) and the Societat Barcelonesa Amics del País (SEBAP) held the third edition of the Fiscal Forum this Wednesday in the Palau Macaya in Barcelona, to discuss the harmonization of corporate tax in the European Union.

The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) organized the Annual Conference of the International Transportation Economics Association (ITEA), in parallel with the conference’s PhD school. Both activities were helded at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Barcelona between 19 and 23 June, and were attended by 170 academics from around the world.

Los investigadores del Instituto de Economía de Barcelona (IEB), Jordi Jofre-Monseny y Álvaro Choi de Mendizabal, han superado el concurso de plazas de personal académico contratado permanente de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Gracias a la superación de estas pruebas, ambos pasan a ser profesores agregados del Departamento de Economía, sección de Economía Pública, de la UB.
