The annual ITEA conference brings together 170 researchers and specialists in transport economics

The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) organized the Annual Conference of the International Transportation Economics Association (ITEA), in parallel with the conference’s PhD school. Both activities were helded at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Barcelona between 19 and 23 June, and were attended by 170 academics from around the world.

This was the first time that ITEA holded its annual conference in Barcelona, following on from previous conferences in Santiago (Chile), Oslo, Toulouse and Chicago. With the aim of promoting high-level research in the field of transport economics, the conference comprised 74 sessions during which 149 papers, following selection by the scientific committee, were presented. Professor Jacques-François Thisse, Université Catholique de Louvain, was invited to deliver the keynote lecture. Two further plenary sessions were scheduled in cooperation with the International Transport Forum (ITF) in which papers were given by Anming Zhang (University of British Columbia), Guillaume Burghouwt (SEO Aviation Economics), Tony Venables (University of Oxford) and Daniel Graham (Imperial College London).
