In the latest SGR-Cat 2021 call issued by the Catalan government, the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) has been recognized as a consolidated research group with competitive funding.

The proposal selected encompasses the research carried out by IEB researchers in the fields of Public Economics, Urban Economics and Energy Sustainability. The resolution highlights the IEB’s high scientific productivity with publications in the most prestigious journals, its strong and consolidated structure with clear lines of research, the quality of its supervision of doctoral students, its ability to attract recent doctorate students and its relations with companies, government bodies and other institutions.

The objective of the SGR call is to offer cross-sectional support to researchers at all stages of their scientific career and in all fields of knowledge. It places special emphasis on “the identification of new researchers”. The award is intended to allow research centres to reinforce their scientific, economic and social impact and to promote their international projection.

This call for recognition and funding is open to all the research groups of the universities of the Catalan university system, public and private research centres, hospital foundations and scientific and technical infrastructures based in Catalonia.
