Call for Expressions of Interest: Postdoctoral / Assistant Professor Positions in Economics

The University of Barcelona School of Economics is accepting applications for three two-year Postdoctoral and one six-year Assistant Professor positions starting in September 2024. Postdoctoral positions may transition to an Assistant Professorship contingent upon a favorable evaluation and the availability of positions.

Two of these positions (one Postdoctoral and one Assistant Professor) correspond to the Department of Economics (Section of Public Economics) in the following fields of interest:

–              Environmental; Agricultural Economics

–              Health; Education; Welfare

–              Labor; Demographic Economics

–              Political Economy

–              Public Economics

–              Urban, Rural, Regional Economics

The University of Barcelona is a leading center in southern Europe, deeply committed to excellence in research. With a longstanding tradition in teaching, it offers a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in Economics and Business. Within this framework, the UB School of Economics serves as a pivotal platform for research and graduate education in Economics.

Candidates are expected to show outstanding commitment to research and must have completed a PhD when taking up the position.  Successful applicants will be expected to teach in English within both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, establish independent research programs of international acclaim, and actively participate in the school’s research endeavors.

The successful applicant for the positions in the Department of Economics (Section of Public Economics) will have the opportunity to carry out research activities in the framework of the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB). The IEBs goals are to promote research excellence in economics, to disseminate its results to society, and to contribute to the debate and decision-making process in economic policy (ieb.ub.edu & twitter.com/FundacioIEB).

Interviews will be conducted virtually in mid-December. Based on the interviews, some candidates will be invited for seminars in January/February.
