The IEB’s annual report reflects its intense activity during the year of the pandemic

The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) has just published its annual report, which describes the institute’s activity in 2020. The document reports on a particularly intense year marked by the pandemic, and reflects the IEB’s commitment to its two main foundational objectives: to promote and disseminate research, and to contribute to the debate and decision-making in economic policy.

As far as research is concerned, in 2020 IEB researchers published 36 articles in specialist journals included in the Journal Citation Report, an important indicator of its scientific achievement. Another 27 were accepted for publication. Our researchers also published articles in other leading academic journals, books, and book chapters. As part of its mission, in 2020, the institute published six IEB infos dealing with the impact of COVID-19 on issues of particular importance.

Among many other topics, the report also records the events organized throughout the year. In 2020, the IEB held 29 seminars, six face-to-face and 23 online (thus allowing a much larger audience to attend). Most of the seminars were given by researchers from international institutions, and three of them by members of the IEB. Two international visiting researchers also participated and 12 internal seminars were held. In addition, the IEB organized an important prestigious congress on public finance and the annual symposium on  sustainable energy.
