The importance of the social role of economics research is one of the points addressed in the video recently produced by the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) to mark its twentieth birthday. The video reviews the institute’s career through the testimonies of its researchers, lecturers, and professors from the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
Through interviews with the programme directors, the video highlights the six priority areas of research that the IEB has addressed over the years and that are reflected in its six research programmes: fiscal federalism, cities, infrastructures and transportation, analysis of tax systems, energy sustainability, and public policies.
This audiovisual review of the essence of the IEB stresses the importance of teamwork and cooperation between the public and private sectors. In doing so, it acknowledges the contributions of the companies and institutions that have made the project possible.
