Researcher Elisabet Viladecans-Marsal, Appointed Professor of the UB

Dr. Elisabet Viladecans-Marsal, researcher of the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB), has recently been promoted to professor of the University of Barcelona. Viladecans-Marsal is a member of the Department of Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Business. An expert in Urban Economics, she is the director of the Cities Research Programme of the IEB and director of the Chair on Urban Economics City of Barcelona at the UB, funded by the Barcelona City Council.

 

Expert in Urban Economics

Dr. Elisabet Viladecans-Marsal directs the Cities Research Programme, whose main purpose is to study the role of cities as an engine of prosperity. Under its different areas, she investigates crucial themes such as the determinants of growth of cities and the underlying social relations that exist within them, agglomeration economies as a key element to explain the productivity of cities and their growth expectations, the functioning of local labor markets and the design of public policies to adequately respond to the current problems of cities. The program has become an international benchmark and supports the activities of a group of researchers, made up of both internal and external associates.
