The economist Cristina Bellés-Obrero has joined the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) as a researcher. Bellés-Obrero has a PhD in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University and was awarded a scholarship under the Beatriz de Pinós programme, whose purpose is to attract postdoctoral research talent.
The new IEB researcher is an expert in health, family and education economics. In recent years she has worked as a researcher at the University of Mannheim in Germany.
Her main lines of research in the coming years will revolve around the study of policies for reducing the incidence of gender violence, and also of the effects of labour market and pension policies on health. Bellés-Obrero is also interested in studying policies for reducing child marriages and adolescent pregnancies in developing countries.
