The economist Caroline Coly has just joined the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) as a researcher and professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Barcelona (UB). She will be part of the group of researchers that make up the IEB Public Policy programme. Professor Coly has a PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics and comes to the IEB after having worked as an analyst at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and as a researcher at the AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality at Bocconi University in Italy.
Professor Coly’s areas of expertise are labour and gender economics. Her doctoral thesis was titled Three essays on gender inequalities in the labor market. Her main research has addressed issues such as the impact of professional equality agreements on gender inequalities in companies, the effects of the #MeToo movement on the French labour market and the evolution of gender inequalities in trades unions in the US.
