Nine projects led by researchers from the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) have been selected within the 2025 call for Knowledge Generation Projects, part of the Spanish scientific and technical research and innovation plan (PEICTI) for 2024-2027. The provisional resolution of the plan has just been published.
These grants, linked to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, provide funding for research projects designed to foster the generation and advancement of scientific knowledge and high-quality research, and also to contribute to finding solutions to societal challenges.
The projects led by IEB researchers are:
- “Public Policies to Promote Educational Outcomes, Safety and Well-being of the Youth” (Daniel Montolio and Jenifer Ruiz-Valenzuela)
- “City Challenges: Land Use, Housing and Urban Amenities” (Elisabet Viladecans-Marsal and Rosa Sanchis-Guarner)
- “Social Spillovers from the Perspectives of Gender and Migration” (Javier Vázquez-Grenno and Anastasia Terskaya)
- “Affordable Housing and Biodiversity Conservation: Two Unavoidable Challenges” (Jordi Jofre-Monseny)
- “Distributive Impacts of New Energy Access” (José García-Quevedo, François Cohen and Elisa Trujillo-Baute)
- “The Politics of AI and Social Media” (Francesco Capozza)
- “Tax Administration, Incidence, and Misallocation in Consumption Taxes” (Giacomo Brusco)
- “State Capacity, Multilevel Governance and Regulatory Responses to Climatic and Technological Changes” (Amedeo Piolatto)
- “Reform and Evaluation of Public Services in Response to the Demographic and Climate Pressures” (Laia Maynou and Daniel Albalate)
