The board direction of the Fundació Institut d’Economia de Barcelona has unanimously agreed to appoint Martí Parellada, who has been the director of IEB until now, to replace Salvador Alemany as the new president of the Fundació IEB. The board has also agreed to appoint Josep M. Durán, who has occupied the position of manager until now, as new director of the IEB.
Four private entities are members of the Fundació Institut d’Economia de Barcelona (Abertis, Applus, Gas Natural and Fundación Bancaria La Caixa), together with the Barcelona City Council, the Diputació de Barcelona and the University of Barcelona.
The IEB is made up of more than 60 people, including researchers and doctoral students. The research of its members focuses mainly on the areas of fiscal federalism and public economics; urban economics; the economy of transport and infrastructures; the analysis of tax systems; human capital, energy sustainability and innovation.
