The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) welcomes a new student enrolled in the PhD in Economics programme at the University of Barcelona (UB). The new student is Mariana Rodríguez Vivas, who graduated in economics from the Universidad de la República in Uruguay, where she also earned a Master’s degree.
Rodríguez Vivas has worked as a research assistant at her home university’s Institute of Economics in Uruguay. Her research interests include public policy, inequality, the economics of education, and gender economics. Her doctoral advisors are IEB researchers Javier Vázquez Grenno and Jaime Millán Quijano.
To date, her most notable publications have addressed topics such as highly skilled migration, the brain drain, collaborative networks in academic production, and the analysis of residential segregation and equal opportunities in educational access.
