Four IEB doctoral students in the Job Market

Four PhD students from the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) are currently listed on the Job Market: Daniel Favre, Julia McGee, Alyvia McTague, and Alejandra Paz. The Job Market allows graduating PhD students to connect with universities and other institutions seeking new researchers.

Daniel Favre de Noguera (Spain) has research experience at the University of Barcelona, ​​Pompeu Fabra University, and Rovira i Virgili University. His research focuses on environmental economics, polarization, populism, and inequality. His doctoral advisors were Professors Albert Solé-Ollé and Matteo Gamalerio, both researchers at the IEB. The title of his Job Market Paper is “Do far-right mayors affect environmental policies? Evidence from Italian Municipalities.”

Julia McGee (Canada) holds a bachelor’s degree from Dalhousie University (Canada) and a master’s degree in economics from the Barcelona School of Economics. Her research focuses on urban economics. Her doctoral thesis was supervised by UB professors Elisabet Viladecans and Rosa Sanchís-Guarner, both researchers at the IEB. Her Job Market Paper is titled “Big Apple, Small Shops?”.

Alyvia McTague (Ireland) holds a degree from University College Dublin. Her research focuses on health economics, gender economics, and the economics of crime. Her doctoral thesis was supervised by UB professor Judit Vall and University of Lleida professor Elisa Trujillo Baute, both researchers at the IEB. Her Job Market Paper is titled “Firearms laws and violence against women”.

Alejandra Paz Rivera Vicencio (Spain) holds a master’s degree in economics from Lund University (Sweden). Her doctoral thesis supervisor is IEB researcher and UB professor Judit Vall Castelló. Her areas of interest are health economics, environmental economics, and policy evaluation. Her Job Market Paper is titled “Heatwaves and Health at Birth”.
