An agreement between the University of Barcelona and the FUNSEAM Foundation has made possible the creation of the Chair, dedicated to conducting research in energy sustainability and organising national and international scientific meetings.

The UB’s new Chair in Energy Sustainability will create a permanent research group, promote the mobility of researchers and organize meetings, including a symposium and workshop on energy and environmental sustainability. The Chair will also prepare a collection of working papers on relevant research topics, and fund visiting professor programs, post-doctoral programs and research projects.

The Chair, directed by professor Maria Teresa Costa and affiliated to the IEB, is the result of an agreement between the UB and the Foundation for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (FUNSEAM), comprising the ACS Foundation, CEPSA, CLH, Enagás Endesa, FCC Energía, Gas Natural Fenosa, HC Energía and the Repsol Foundation. Its mission is to investigate the economic, environmental and social issues related to the production, supply and use of energy necessary to sustain social development and welfare.
