The researcher Rosa Sanchís-Guarner, wins a Beatriu de Pinós grant

Dr. Rosa Sanchís-Guarner, researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) and professor at the Department of Economics at the University of Barcelona (UB), has been awarded a Beatriu de Pinós grant by the Catalan government for the development of a research project.

The purpose of the Beatriu de Pinós programme is to attract postdoctoral research talent and to incorporate it into the Catalan science and technology network. The grants offer individual aid for the hiring of doctoral research personnel. In the last call, 60 grants were awarded, providing funding for stays abroad and attendance at events to disseminate the results of the research carried out.

Dr. Sanchís-Guarner’s three-year project, starting on 1 February, 2022, will be carried out together with Dr. Elisabet Viladecans, also an IEB researcher. Within the field of study of urban economics, Dr. Sanchís-Guarner will focus on the study of economic location and segregation in cities, evaluating the impact of different policies on the distribution of activities.

Dr. Sanchis-Guarner holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics (LSE) and until very recently she worked as a researcher at Queen Mary University of London. She previously pursued her career at Imperial College Business School and at the LSE itself, specifically on the Center for Economic Performance Urban Programme. Her areas of specialization are urban economics, transportation economics, public policy evaluation, and applied microeconomics.
