Clàudia Serra, Candan Erdemli and Marianna Magagnoli, new PhD students of the IEB

The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) has three new PhD students enrolled in the PhD in Economics of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB).

Clàudia Serra holds a master’s degree in economics from the School of Economics at the UB and has worked as a research assistant at IESE Business School. Her topics of interest are in the areas of public economics, labour economics, migration, public policy evaluation and economic development. Her research currently focuses on issues of inequality and economic redistribution. Her thesis supervisors are UB professors Pilar Sorribas and Dirk Foremny, both IEB researchers.

A second new PhD student is Candan Erdemli (Turkey) who holds a master’s degree in economics and finance from the Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros in Madrid. Erdemli has Judit Vall, UB professor and IEB researcher, as thesis supervisor. Her topics of interest are related to labour economics, education economics and health economics from a gender perspective.

Marianna Magagnoli (Italy) has also joined the IEB as a PhD student, a graduate of the University of Bologna (Italy) and has a master’s degree in economics from the University of Mannheim (Germany). Her research is in the field of the urban economics and specifically focuses on issues related to the impact of teleworking and urban mobility. UB Professor Elisabet Viladecans, also Director of the Cities Research Programme, and Miquel Àngel García López, a professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) are her thesis supervisors.
