The Barcelona Economic Society Els Amics del País (SEBAP) wishes to pay tribute to the personal and professional career of Dr Antoni Castells Oliveres, Professor of Public Finance at the University of Barcelona, ​​in the fields of economics and public policy. Dr Castells will be presented with the Alexandre Pedrós Prize, awarded annually by the Society, on 14 May.

Both Pedrós and Castells have been prominent members of the Institute of Economic Studies (IEB), and Professor Castells was also its first Director. Antoni Castells is considered a pioneer in Spanish academia in the field of fiscal federalism and regional finance, issues which, along with social welfare policies and the European economy, have been the main focus of his research.

The award ceremony, organized by SEBAP, will be held on the afternoon of 14 May at the Macaya Palace of the “la Caixa” Foundation. It will be chaired by Miquel Roca i Junyent, president of SEBAP, together with Alicia Romero, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
