The Barcelona Economic Society of Friends of the Country wanted to pay tribute to the personal and professional career in the field of economics and public policies of Dr. Antoni Castells Oliveres, Professor of Public Finance at the University of Barcelona. And for this reason, he will present him on May 14 with the Alexandre Pedrós Prize awarded annually by the entity.
It so happens that Pedrós and Castells have been prominent members of the IEB and Professor Castells, in addition, was its first Director. Antoni Castells is considered a pioneer in the field of fiscal federalism and the Autonomous Treasury in the Spanish academic field, issues that together with social welfare policies and the European economy have been the object of his study.
The award ceremony, convened by the Barcelona Economic Society of Friends of the Country, will take place on the afternoon of 14 May at the Macaya Palace of the “la Caixa” Foundation. It will be chaired by Miquel Roca y Junyent, president of Amigos del País, together with Alicia Romero, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
