Doctor Andreu Arenas, researcher and co-director of the Political Economy research programme at the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB), has been appointed associate professor at the University of Barcelona (UB). Arenas is a member of the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
Previously, Arenas has been a researcher at Princeton and at CORE (UCLouvain). He received his PhD in Economics from the European University Institute, and his Master’s from the University of Warwick.
His research focuses on political economy and the economics of education and social mobility. Methodologically, he specializes in data analysis and causal inference. His work has been published in journals such as PNAS, The Economic Journal, and the Quarterly Journal of Political Science.
He is editor of the economics blog Nada es Gratis, where he is also a regular contributor.
