The economist Anastasia Terskaya has just joined the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) as a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Barcelona (UB). She will form part of the group of researchers working on the IEB Public Policy programme. Professor Terskaya has a doctorate in Economics from the University of Alicante and she joins the UB from the University of Navarre, where she has worked as a lecturer for the last two years.
Professor Terskaya’s areas of specialization are family economics, health economics, and labour economics, with a special focus on human capital formation. Her doctoral thesis explored the interactions between nature and nurture in the development of human capital and health. Her major research has addressed questions such as whether parental investments are motivated by efficiency or equity concerns, how wealth affects fertility and marriage decisions, and whether the health and risk behaviours of adolescents are affected by the characteristics of their classmates.
