IEB researcher wins UB prize for his article ‘Sequential education expansion, equality and growth in the Republic of Korea’

Álvaro Choi, researcher at the Institut d’Economia de Barcelona (IEB) and lecturer at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), has been awarded the 2010 José Manuel Blecua prize for his article “Sequential educational expansion, equality, and growth in the Republic of Korea”, published in the Korean Journal of Educational Policy.

The jury stressed the interest of the study and the impact of education on the development of the Korean economy. The José Manuel Blecua prize, awarded this year by the Social Council of the UB for the sixth time, is given to the best article published in a leading Human and Social Sciences journal and deriving from a PhD thesis read at the UB in the last five years (January 2005 to December 2009).
