The project ‘Policies for Resilient Societies in Times of Pandemics’ led by Judit Vall, lecturer in economics at the University of Barcelona and researcher at the IEB, is one of four applications (out of a total of 185) selected by AGAUR, the Catalan government’s agency for the management of university research grants, under the framework of its call for applications entitled ‘Pandemics 2020’. The study will receive €189,300 in funding.
The ‘Pandemics 2020’ call aims to contribute to the analysis of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and, more generally, of the concept of “pandemic” in our society. It seeks to identify new measures, models, and lines of action that can help to address the consequences of the pandemic and define new preventive models for analysis and treatment.
The project, led by Judit Vall as principal investigator, and involving 28 other researchers from different disciplines, aims to provide the empirical evidence that policy-makers need to design the most efficient public policies and strategies for dealing with the negative effects of pandemics. The study also aims to guide measures for mitigating the impact of possible future outbreaks of Covid-19.
